Dr Fabian Seymour & colleagues

Fabian is the Director of AFS Mountaineering. He has been exploring the high places of Britain since 2001. He has a passion for enthusing others with the love of mountains and other landscapes, and building people's confidence to get outdoors. He's a rock climbing instructor and hold the Summer and Winter Mountain Leader awards.


He has a PhD in evolution that he combines with a love of the mountains. He can literally take people on a journey through the history of plant life on land on a mountain journey too.


When unavailable, Fabian provides hand-picked, very experienced guides for our events. They too, are brilliant at what they do.

Richard Baines & colleagues

Richard is the Co-Director of Yorkshire Coast Nature. He's an experienced ornithologist and ecologist who has been studying and working as a Wildlife Guide and in Nature Conservation for over 30 years.


He's worked in many diverse landscapes, from the north of England to Caithness on the Outer Hebrides as well as overseas. He loves to share his  knowledge and experience of wildlife with people. He's also very interested in mindfulness in nature.


When unavailable, Richard provides hand-picked, very experienced guides for our events. They too, are brilliant at what they do.

Fred Stevenson & SARAS

Our astronomer, Fred, is an astro-physicist with many years experience. For 25 years, he's taught astronomy in adult education and showed people the wonders of the night sky through his courses at Kielder Forest Park. He delights in inspiring others about this subject


When unavailable, we work closely with a local astronomical society (SARAS) who are extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the night sky. Even when cloudy, they have a few tricks up their sleeves!

Georgia Davies - Bushcraft & Forest School Instructor

Georgia is the Forest School and Community Project Leader at Ampleforth Abbey.


She has an academic background in Ecology and spent many years in this field.


For the past 20 years she's worked in the field of education as a Forest School and Bushcraft Instructor. Through her work, she is dedicated to connecting people to nature.


We work with Georgia in our women-only and bushcraft events held on Ampleforth Abbey land.

Alison Goodwin - Owner - Adventures for the Soul

Passionate about the natural world & the outdoors, Alison holds a BSc degree in Environmental Management and PGCert in Tourism, Conservation & Sustainable Development. A keen fell walker and lover the north of England for all its wild places. 


Alison is a contemplative & mindful walks leader, forest bather, sensory nature specialist, star-gazing enthusiast, wellness coach, yoga instructor and former Zen Buddhist.


Since 2002, she's run wellness sessions & nature experiences for: universities, NGOs, charities and outdoor experience companies. She's taken people to some of the most stunning areas of the UK on yoga, mindfulness and contemplative walking holidays since 2009.


She set up Adventures for the Soul in 2019.
