Dr Fabian Seymour & colleagues

Fabian is the Director of AFS Mountaineering. He has been exploring the high places of Britain since 2001. He has a passion for enthusing others with the love of mountains and other landscapes, and building people's confidence to get outdoors. He's a rock climbing instructor and hold the Summer and Winter Mountain Leader awards.

He has a PhD in evolution that he combines with a love of the mountains. He can literally take people on a journey through the history of plant life on land on a mountain journey too.

When unavailable, Fabian provides hand-picked, very experienced guides for our events. They too, are brilliant at what they do.

Fred Stevenson & SARAS

Our astronomer, Fred, is an astro-physicist with many years experience. For 25 years, he's taught astronomy in adult education and showed people the wonders of the night sky through his courses at Kielder Forest Park. He delights in inspiring others about this subject.

When unavailable, we work closely with a local astronomical society (SARAS) who are extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the night sky. Even when cloudy, they have a few tricks up their sleeves!
