Run in partnership with AFS Mountaineering & colleagues
What you'll do
This is a bespoke experience tailored for people visiting the North York Moors between June - early September.
Wake up early and head out while still dark to see huge skies filled with faint stars. Maybe even see shimmering Noctilucent Clouds that only appear this time of the year an hour or so before sunrise. Made up of ice crystals formed high in the upper atmosphere, they are the highest clouds on Earth.
Watching the early morning sky, hear animals and birds awaken from their slumber. Feel a gentle breeze on your skin. Breathe in lungfuls of fresh air.
While we wait for the sun to rise, we'll take you on a sensory nature walk - with and without head torches so you can experience getting used to your night vision.
But that's not all! You'll find out a little more about planet earth, stars and planets and discover you're actually looking back in time. You'll also learn about the geology of this ancient land too, as the area is steeped in ancient rock history.
Then we'll find a spot to view the sunrise and take in this natural wonder. Certainly, you'll leave feeling invigorated - and very much alive!
Further information - PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING
The walk and session length can be tailored to your needs.
To make the most of this event, we recommend a walk of around 4 - 5 miles with time for stops. It is a good idea to allow 3 hours to gain full benefit from this experience. If this is not possible due to accessibility requirements, please let us know and we will see what we can do.
Once your needs are known, we will research best routes for you and your party and make suggestions.

The North York Moors is a diverse national park with upland areas and steep-sided dales carved out by glacier melt water. At it's top sits wild expanses of heather moorland. Around the perimeter and centre of the Park you'll find acres of native and plantation woodlands. To the east, you'll find a coastline steeped in history and myth.
There are several locations here that would be ideal to head out see the morning sky and watch sunrise during the summer months. It's best to check ahead with us and plan your visit around the cycle of the moon too.
