What you'll do


Created over 100 million years before the first dinosaurs even existed, Brimham Rocks is a popular spot with walkers and climbers during the day. At night its eerily quiet...And dark. Perfect for a dark skies experience!


Timed to coincide with the darkest phase of the moon, you'll view vast skies above filled with thousands of twinkling stars. Walk the path around these amazing structures and surrounding area on foot. Learn more about its geological history as well as the universe and starry heavens above.


While meandering, learn a secret, sensory technique that'll ramp up your WOW factor. Not only will you experience so much more, you'll leave feeling amazing.


Ok we can't guarantee clear skies - BUT this is still an atmospheric and amazing 'pick-me-up' that will leave you feeling rejuvenated. And very much alive.

The walk can range in length from 4  - 6 miles and will depend on conditions underfoot and weather. Please note although we will be walking on footpaths,  there are sections of mud, rough ground and rocky stretches. For your comfort, a good level of fitness will be needed for this activity.

Meet your Leaders


Alison runs Adventures for the Soul and is passionate about the natural world and the outdoors. She holds a BSc degree in Environmental Management and PGCert in Tourism, Conservation & Sustainable Development. A dark sky enthusiast, nature lover, contemplative walks leader, former Zen Buddhist and qualified yoga teacher for many years, she's taken people to some of the most stunning areas of the UK on wellbeing and walking holidays since 2009.


Fabian our walk leader for the evening is the Founder and Director of AFS Mountaineering. He's not only a qualified winter mountain leader, but a PhD scientist with a specialism in evolution and life in extreme habitats. He also has a fascination with stars and planets. He works alongside some exceptional mountain leaders, offering safe guide-led walks to some of the most amazing places in the UK. When Fabian is not available, his colleagues will step in.

On the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, located in stunning Nidderdale, lies a collection of dramatic, weirdly shaped rocks set in dramatic moorland.


According to The National Trust, who own the site, 'the history of Brimham Rocks spans over 340 million years and is a treasure trove of geological and scientific interest. The natural and human history of the rocks have been enchanting visitors for generations. It is a place of history, adventure, peace and tranquillity'.
